The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. John 5:25 The term “hour” doesn’t refer to a duration of 60 minutes but rather to a specific period of time. It is the hour of grace that began when the Son of God became man. It was then that divine grace appeared to bring salvation to mankind. This “hour” has two phases. a. The time when the Son of God lived on earth: He called people to listen to Him and believe in Him for eternal life. Some heard His voice and opened their hearts to Him. Then He raised them from spiritual death and gave them new life. These people included the eleven disciples and others who believed in Him and followed Him. b. The time of grace in which we live. After His death and resurrection, Jesus Christ returned to heaven. Since then, He has been proclaiming and spreading the message of grace through His servants. Thus, the voice of the Son of God is still heard on earth today. People who listen to Him and believe in the gospel experience the way He leads them out of spiritual death into life. They now belong to the redeemed who have a right relationship with God and possess a hope beyond death. This hour of grace will one day come to an end. That is why it is so important to listen to the Son of God and believe in Him today. Today’s reading: Genesis 30:25-43 · Psalms 17:8-15 https://gbv-online.org/calendar/262/date/2025-05-23
