#HSDA2021Residential-Rubik's Cube of Personality
Welcome to my metaverse! It is inspired by a Rubik's cube for three reasons. First, I love the 80s, so this is a nod to that. Second, I am a bit of a puzzle myself. :P And third, I am drawn to clean lines and shapes in modern architecture. Each floor is in a different style, but each one makes me so happy. The first floor is a relaxing rustic cabin. The second is a new wave retro entertainment room, and the third is an eerie modern gothic retreat. It may seem strange to combine so many styles, but this house is definitely all me.

All three floors are connected with a spiral staircase that runs directly through the middle. In theory, the top two floors would be able to twist and turn to face different views.

My home is set in a rocky mountainside as I love mountain views and large trees. The exterior style of the home is simple and modern, which is something I find myself drawn to in architecture.
The ground is wet because I love rainy days and I wanted to think of it as having just rained, with the smell of the rain still in the air.

This is the opposite side of the house with a glimpse of the pool area in the back yard.
Backyard view. The exterior of the house is full of curved lines to contrast the blockiness of the house itself.
Night time view. In my vision the backyard was where most of the entertaining of large groups of friends would happen. As an introvert, this also provides a fitting metaphor, in that I keep most people on the outside of who I am, but I try to be as welcoming as I can.

The opposite side of the pool area features a large gathering space around a fire pit.

Night is a time that excites me. It is a time for the magic of ambient lighting. I wanted my design to be just as interesting at night as during the day.

This is still outside, but on the roof of the house. We are working our way down from the very top. I didn't want too much structurally on the roof because I didn't want it to distract from the cube shape. It's a place to gaze at the stars.

Here is what lay under the sunroof. This is a courtyard area on the third floor. This level is the part of me that loves everything eerie and haunting. I would call this style modern gothic. The courtyard is open to the other living spaces on this floor. A spiral staircase leads to the roof.

This level is dark and the renderings are all night renderings to match the mood I wanted for the space.

I chose items based on the feel they gave me. While I wanted an eerie vibe, I also wanted it to feel like a cozy place to be.
This is the floor where I would spend time with those closest to me that understand my weird side. :P
I love the design of the lamp stand and the side table. The two of the them together is a thing of beauty.

The design on the wall is inspired by the lines in gothic architecture.
I love the idea that this floor is very open to the outdoors while being high off the ground for additional privacy.
Now for something entirely different. This is the second level of the house. It is my new wave retro level. I love so much about the 80s, and this harkens back to that time, but also to my great love of new wave retro music. I chose a color palette found in many new wave designs.
I am a person of opposites. I love too many things that contradict each other. While the home is set in the forest, I also love the idea of living in a loft in the middle of a bustling city. For that reason, this floor has windows that double as VR displays of an actual city skyline in real time.
This is my energizing floor. I would come to this floor to get a jolt of energy and for entertainment -movies, music, and as you can catch a small glimpse of in this photo, an arcade.
This also has the only full kitchen in the house. I almost always play new wave retro music when I cook because it is one of the few ways I can make it more enjoyable. Haha! (I'm not a fan of cooking.) Reflective surfaces and neon lights combined with the black lined marble all give an 80s feel.
This floor is energetic, but also laid back to enjoy all the entertainment. The more casual table and seats show that this floor is all about fun. This is the level to be laughing, dancing, and playing games with friends.
This is the arcade area with a lit up grid floor.
The spiral staircase still runs through the center of the room as on the floor above, but the steps are now a reflective blue to match the style of the space.
The back corner of the room has a small bathroom.
While this room is so entirely different from my usual design style, it truly makes me happy in a way that few other things can. :)

Surprise! Now for something completely different again! The bottom, or first floor, is styled as a relaxing cozy cabin. This is the first floor of the house. This is where I would sit with a hot cup of coffee in the morning or watch the snow fall.
This is a night view. I really wanted this to become even more cozy and magical at night and tried to add in lots of beautiful ambient lighting.
The cabin space has a more rustic feel than the other floors. It only has a small kitchenette for snacking and breakfasts.
This level seems like it would be the most approachable and relatable part of my personality, which is why I put it on the ground level. I often play cozy cabin ambience on my television for tranquility, but having the real thing would be so much better!
A large tub area with a water feature to soak and wash away all the stress of the day. The flowing curtains, plants, and candles add to the relaxing feel.
The bed area is full of inviting textures.
At night the ambient light gets a chance to really stand out.
